I think it'll be better if additional software or widgets can be created and bundled with the package for handheld devices. Have them as add-ins (or packaged with the software but may be installed on the portable or handheld device from some dashboard) that may be used for various portable and hand-held devices with the ability to synchronize the PC with the handheld or portable device.
